the details...

Location of North Charleston

North Charleston is strategically situated in the coastal Lowcountry region of South Carolina. It encompasses a diverse range of neighborhoods, industries, and attractions, with its northern border extending to the southern shores of the Cooper River, which separates it from the historic downtown Charleston peninsula. The city extends westward towards the Ashley River, which marks its boundary with West Ashley. To the east, you’ll find the Charleston Harbor and the scenic views it offers. With its proximity to the Charleston International Airport and major highways like I-26, North Charleston enjoys a prime location for both residents and businesses, making it a hub of economic activity and a convenient place to call home in the Charleston metropolitan area.

Why You'll LOVE it:

Why You'll HATE it:

Convenient Location

Its central location in the Charleston metropolitan area makes it a hub for business and recreation. Residents enjoy easy access to downtown Charleston, the beaches, and other nearby cities.

No Great grocery store

I know weird but it’s true! I have heard that they’re building a Publix sometime soon! For the time being, it’s a not so great Food Lion…and everyone else drives to West Ashley or Mt. Pleasant for their groceries.

Cute downtown area

If you’re not feeling up to driving 10 minutes down the road to reach Downtown Charleston, no worries! North Charleston’s Park Circle area is as cute as can be.

Its own city

North Charleston is not Charleston…it just isn’t. It’s its own city! So they have different governing laws than the city of Charleston.

Affordability

While quickly becoming not as affordable as it once was, North Charleston is comparatively, much more affordable to some of the other areas in Greater Charleston.

education

While there are quality schools in North Charleston, some areas may have schools with lower performance, which can be a concern for families with school-age children.

Trendy Vibes

North Charleston, specifically Park Circle, has garnered a hipster vibe with great restaurants, parks, and community amongst its residents.

traffic congestion

The city’s central location and economic growth can lead to traffic congestion, especially during rush hours, which can be frustrating for commuters.

Short Term Renting

For all my investors out there…this is one of the only areas in Greater Charleston where you can short term rent without living on-site.

Short Term Renting

This is one of the only areas in Greater Charleston where you can short term rent without living on-site. If you’re looking to make this your primary residence, the changeover of neighbors may bother you.
